November 25th

Date details +

Do you have questions about meditation?

Are you struggling with too many thoughts? Do you find yourself always falling asleep? Do  you wonder if you are doing it right? Are you able to practice in a group, but you struggle with practicing at home by yourself? Would you like suggestions about a book to read or a class to take to help you make progress on the path?

You are not alone. Meditators have struggled with questions such as these for hundreds of years.

Meditation Office Hours is a new initiative at the Boston Shambhala Center, providing a forum for people ask questions and discuss challenges, in order to strengthen and deepen their practice.

    How does it work?

We are offering office hours both in person and over zoom. Check each session to see where it will be hosted. Join any of the sessions - in person or online - that work for your schedule.  Feel free to come as often as you like.

No registration is necessary. Click here to see other sessions

Each session, a small group of practitioners meet with an instructor for an hour to ask questions and discuss meditation.

This is a confidential, supportive space for exploring how meditation works, and how it can apply to your life off the cushion. We ask everyone who attends to respect the confidentiality of the session.

    Who lead these Office Hours?

Meditation instructors at the Boston Shambhala Center were either trained by meditation master Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, or his students. We teach shamatha (peaceful abiding) and vipashyana (awareness/insight) meditation, and have been practicing ourselves for many years.

    Who is it for?

Participants should already have received initial shamatha/vipashyana meditation instruction and started practicing on their own. Initial meditation instruction will not be offered here. Please see the Learn to Meditate program to receive the initial meditation instruction.

    What does it cost?

These sessions are offered at no charge. Donations are always welcome in the offering bowl, or digitally throught paypal or square.

    Anything else I should know?

Please arrive on time for the office hour. Once the session begins the door may be locked and we may not be able to admit you once the session begins. Please plan to stay for the full session if possible.

Health & Accessibility: Please join by zoom if you are not feeling well. Additionally, we ask you to limit the use of scented products, as many people have chemical sensitivities.

Note that our building is not wheelchair accessible
