Generosity, Patience, Discipline, Exertion, Meditation, Wisdom...

The six paramitas (transcendent actions) are described by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche as the “exercise of goodness”, and “how we can apply the teachings of Dharma very personally and directly”. This day of meditation and contemplation will help to awaken our own practice of goodness in the world.  Paramita teachings, along with the extended nyinthun sitting, are suitable for both new and experienced students.

All are welcome to join the whole day, or any part of the day, however we encourage your full participation as much as possible.

On this day we will focus on Prajnaparamita, the Buddhist teachings on emptiness (shunyata) with meditations and a video talk by Acharya Judith Simmer-Brown. Prajna is the wisdom of going beyond concepts, the dimension of open space and the ungraspable, unsubstantial nature of reality. We will explore this view of reality thru hearing, contemplating and meditating on the teachings of Prajnaparamita, the sixth transcendent aspect of the bodhisattva path.

In the afternoon session (1:30 till 5PM) we will view a video talk by Acharya Judith Simmer-Brown from a new series of talks by Shambhala Senior Teachers. The talk will be followed by group discussion and meditations led by Janet Romaine and Bill Wooding.

The day also includes lunch and tea breaks. One may bring their own lunch or go out to one of the nearby restaurants. We look forward to sharing the rich tradition of Paramita practice with you.
