The Three Volume Profound Treasury texts present Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche's teaching on the hinayana, mahayana, and vajrayana in a unique way, joining traditional Buddhist concepts with contemplative, experiential understanding, in vivid language which is as fresh today as when it was first taught.

The Path of Individual Liberation presents the Hinayana, the core Buddhist teachings on the practice of meditation, the reality of suffering, and the possibility of liberation.  The Bodhisattva Path of Wisdom and Compassion presents the Mahayana, the "open way" of awakening the heart and the Bodhisattva's journey.

Join us for the next 6-week Profound Treasury module exploring the practitioner’s transition from the Hinayana to the Mahayana Path.  Topics include the three marks of existence, karma, cutting ego fixation, one and a half-fold and twofold egolessness, emptiness, relative and absolute truth, and the discovery of Buddha nature.

The class format will be facilitated discussion, closely tied to readings from Volume One and Volume Two of the Profound Treasury texts.  (We will not be using Volume Two until preparation for the 5th class).  We will also have supplementary readings starting with the first class from Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism by Chogyam Trungpa.

One does not need to have attended previous Profound Treasury study groups to join this class, but a solid meditation practice is a recommended pre-requisite.  The expectation is that students will actively engage in the topics and complete each reading assignment prior to the class discussion.
