Learning to meditate is a foundational life skill, which allows someone to start working with their own mind and cultivating the equanimity, openness, strength and insight that are naturally present. There are many types of meditation, and we start with mindfulness meditation (Sanskrit shamatha, “calm abiding”) which is common across Buddhist traditions, as well as widely used in secular traditions like Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.

The monthly Learn to Meditate program is an introduction to this “calm-abiding” mindfulness practice which stabilizes the mind and synchronizes mind and body.

Each week, an experienced meditation teacher leads a one hour session including an overview, guided meditation in the practice techniques, discussion, and recommendations for continuing one’s practice.

This introductory program is open to all, and is beneficial for both new meditators and those who are familiar with other meditation practices.
